Just west of Dallas sits the city of Arlington Texas. Arlington TX history started as a European settlement in the 1840’s, Arlington is now located in Tarrant county named after the late General Edward H. Tarrant from the battle with Native Americans of the Village Creek Settlement in 1841. Arlington is approximately 100 square miles and was originally founded along the Pacific and Texas railway.

Crime is very low here with the crime rate at 91% compared with the national average. There is only a 1 in 29 chance of becoming a victim of property crime or violent crime. Not bad considering that the population has grown to about 398,854 as of the 2019 US census report of which 49% is male and 51% female. Arlington has a diverse population and is around 61.48% white.

Primary industries that support local employment include: retail trade, healthcare, social assistance, manufacturing, public administration, and utilities rounding out the list with some of the highest paying positions.

The city is one of the first to actually remove its public transportation system and has instead opted for a pilot program using a company called Via Transportation. Via uses a system of Mercedes Benz vans and has a proprietary app that allows riders to access available routes and pickup points all for around $3.

U of T is considered a public research university. It is located between Dallas and Fort Worth. Founded in 1895, it was originally part of the state A&M University System but later became part of the university state system in 1965. The university supports not only high level research but also provides a wide variety of education and employment opportunities.
